Battleborn: First-Person Shooter Video Game

Battleborn is a first-person shooter video game developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games. It features competitive multiplayer matches pitting two teams of five characters against one another with the objective of destroying the opponent's base.

What is Battleborn?

Battleborn is a first-person shooter video game developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games in 2016. It features a vibrant cast of various characters called Battleborn that the players can choose from and features competitive multiplayer matches pitting two teams of five characters against one another with the objective of escorting their minions to the center of the map and destroying the opponents' base.

Each Battleborn has their own unique abilities, weapons and personality. There is a Story Mode that can be played solo or cooperatively which provides backstory for the characters and multiplayer matches award experience points to level up your Battleborn, unlock gear and acquire new abilities. There is a wide variety of multiplayer modes such as Capture, Incursion which is like a sophisticated tower defense, Meltdown which focuses on escorting minions, and player vs player deathmatches.

Upon release, Battleborn was praised for its artstyle, character design, and blending of genres but criticized for its confusing marketing leading up to release as it was released close to the juggernaut multiplayer shooter Overwatch. While it accumulated a small dedicated playerbase, it struggled to compete with other hero/class based shooters. The game has since ceased active development but the servers remain online.
