Urban Terror: Realistic Online FPS

Free, fast-paced online first-person shooter with a focus on realism and team-based tactics, featuring modes like capture the flag and bomb diffusion.

What is Urban Terror?

Urban Terror is a free, open-source first-person shooter multiplayer video game developed by FrozenSand LLC. Originally a total conversion mod based on the ioquake3-codebase of Quake III Arena, Urban Terror has since become a standalone game with more realistic environments, characters, weapons, and gameplay.

The focus of Urban Terror is on online multiplayer matches involving teams completing objectives such as capturing flags, defusing bombs, rescuing hostages, and eliminating the opposing team. It features class-based gameplay with characters like medics, snipers, and assault troopers each with their own roles and abilities.

Some key features that distinguish Urban Terror from other FPS games are the realistic environments based on real-world locations, emphasis on team tactics and completing objectives over getting kills, and more lifelike movement with features like jumping, crouching, and accurate hitboxes. It also has over 100 maps to play across 7 gameplay modes including classic mods like capture the flag and deathmatch.

Originally created as a total overhaul mod of Quake III to incorporate modern combat and realistic environments, Urban Terror has grown into one of the most popular free FPS games with a dedicated community. It's available for Windows, Linux, and Mac platforms and focuses on fun, team-based gameplay accessible for both casual and competitive players.
