The game features gravity-based gameplay mechanics that allow players to propel themselves across the map with zero gravity jumps and slides. There are nine distinct character classes, each with their own abilities and roles such as assault, support, tank, and recon.

Maps and modes are designed around rapid traversal and iconic locations. Modes include Blitzball, Turf War, Occupy, and Uplink. Despite positive reviews for its gameplay, LawBreakers struggled to build a steady player base.

One year after launch, the average player count dropped below 10. On September 14, 2018, Boss Key Productions announced that the servers would be shutting down due to the game having reached the end of its life cycle.

Possible alternatives to LawBreakers include more popular hero shooter games like Overwatch, Paladins, and Valorant which have larger player communities.
