The Unreal Tournament series is a set of multiplayer-focused first-person shooter video games developed by Epic Games and Digital Extremes. The first entry in the series was released in 1999 for Windows PCs, with subsequent main series titles coming out in 2000, 2001, 2004, and 2007.
Unreal Tournament is known for its fast-paced, action-packed gameplay with a focus on competitive multiplayer modes. Players battle against each other and AI-controlled bots across a variety of creative sci-fi environments using iconic weapons like the flak cannon, shock rifle, and redeemer. Movement is very dynamic, with options for dodging, double jumping, and using translocators to teleport around levels.
One of the standout features of Unreal Tournament is its deep mod support and mutator system that allows players to extensively customize and tweak different aspects of gameplay. While there has not been a new main series Unreal Tournament game since 2007, a free pre-alpha version of Unreal Tournament 4 was made available in 2014.
