What is Burnout Paradise?

Burnout Paradise is an open world racing video game developed by Criterion Games and published by Electronic Arts in 2008. It's the sixth game in the Burnout series and is available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.

Paradise City is the fictional city where Burnout Paradise takes place. It features four main districts and harbors, downtown Paradise City, a mountainous region, an industrial area and a beach resort area. Players can freely roam around the open world and discover new events and vehicles. Over 100 licensed vehicles are available ranging from compact cars to superscars.

The game focuses heavily on dangerous high-speed racing and crashing. Some key features include Showtime mode where players can crash and rack up points, online multiplayer for up to 8 players, and a day-night cycle that impacts available events. Several DLC packs added new cars, areas and gameplay after launch.

Burnout Paradise received critical acclaim for its open world design and addictive gameplay. It offers players the freedom to approach events at their own pace while providing intense, high-stakes races. The crashing and damage mechanics also set it apart in the racing genre.
