What is ColorTag?
ColorTag is a free and open source file tagging application for Windows and Mac that allows you to visually categorize, sort and filter files and folders in your system using color tags.
Unlike complex project or task management software, ColorTag takes a simple approach and focuses solely on applying user-defined tags to files/folders to make organization easy at a glance. It’s similar to putting labels on manila folders or post-it notes on documents to denote different categories or priorities.
With ColorTag, you simply choose colors in the app that represent different categories or projects and apply one or more color tags to files/folders. For example, all work documents can be tagged red while blue is for personal files and green is for financial records. The files will display the color tags beside the names, allowing you to instantly identify the categories using the visual colors.
