What is ColorWell?
ColorWell is a feature-rich color picker and palette design tool for graphic designers, web developers, and anyone who works with color. It simplifies the color selection process with an intuitive interface that combines visual color picking with precise color specification options.
At the core of ColorWell is a color wheel and complementary palette generator. Users can visually choose colors from an HSB color wheel, or have complementary, triadic, tetradic, and other color schemes automatically generated from any chosen hue. There are also preset option for common color schemes.
In addition to the color wheel and palettes, ColorWell provides options to precisely specify colors through inputs for RGB, HEX, HSB, HSL, and CMYK color codes. Users can use these input fields along with the color wheel picker to tweak specific hue, saturation, and brightness values.
Selected colors can be saved to custom color swatches and palettes. These become available alongside the color wheel for easy access to frequently used colors. ColorWell also includes dynamic preview features - selected colors can be seen live on shape swatches or actual website and app designs.
Other helpful features in ColorWell include support for importing and exporting color palettes, a contrast checker to ensure accessibility standards are met, and options to capture colors from imported images. The software is available as a Mac app, with potential for future cross-platform and mobile support.
