What is Cube World?
Cube World is an indie action role-playing, sandbox video game developed and published by Wolfram von Funck. Originally released in 2013, the game takes place in a voxel-based procedurally generated fantasy world made up of blocks and cubes.
In Cube World, players explore a seemingly endless world made up of biomes like snowy mountains, lush forests, hot deserts, and more. Scattered throughout the world are quaint NPC villages that act as hubs and quest providers. As players journey through the world, they will battle fantasy creatures and enemies using an arcade-style combat system focused on timing and combos.
There is a heavy emphasis on questing, looting, and character progression in Cube World. Players gain experience points and level up, allowing them to increase attributes and unlock new abilities and combos. Loot like weapons, armor, potions, and pets also help players become stronger over time. The game can be played solo or cooperatively with friends.
While Cube World garnered significant praise upon release for its vibrant, colorful voxel world and exciting action combat, updates to the game have been very slow over the years. The long periods of time between updates and lack of communication from the solo developer have led to declining interest and players over time.
