With communication lines cut, the game features guilds and private military corporations fighting each other for power, resources, and influence within Tarkov.

As a player, you take on the role of one of these Private Military Contractors (PMCs). Getting in and out of Tarkov alive while looting items and gear to improve your chances of making it out alive the next time is the name of the game. It features in-depth weapon customization, a thriving economy driven by supply and demand, a wide variety of environments like the city outskirts, woods, industrial areas, suburbs, a medical camp, and more.

The game emphasizes combat realism with features like ammunition type modeling spawns and malfunctions, bleeding, fractures, intoxication, exhaustion effects, accurate ballistics, the ability to lean and peek, tactical movement system, variable health regeneration, and more. The game is played from a first-person perspective and features both Player versus Player and Player versus Environment combat as you clash with other players looking to make it out alive or Raiders and Scavs that inhabit the various maps.
