What is Insurgency?

Insurgency is a first-person tactical shooter video game developed by New World Interactive and released in 2014. It is available on Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms on PC as well as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.

The game has a strong focus on realistic and team-based modern infantry combat. It features in-depth cooperative multiplayer modes as well as competitive player vs player modes across over 20 detailed environments set within real world conflict zones in the Middle East and Central Asia.

Players can customize their soldier, weapons, gear, and special abilities, and work together with their team to complete objectives like destroying caches, capturing control points, assassinating VIPs, or simply eliminating the enemy team. Teams must manage resources like ammunition and supplies carefully.

Key features include a focus on lethal combat with an extremely quick time to kill, in-depth weapon customization reflecting real world variety, the necessity of communication and coordination among teammates, and emphasis on taking cover, suppression, and maneuvering rather than running and gunning.
