In Hay Day, players inherit an old farm and must restore it to its former glory. Gameplay is focused around managing the farm by harvesting crops, producing goods inside farm buildings, fulfilling orders, and selling products for coins. As players progress, they can customize and expand their farm, unlock new production buildings, crops, decorations and farm animals.
Core activities on the farm include:
- Planting, growing and harvesting wheat, corn, carrots, sugarcane and other crops in farm fields. Crops regrow after harvesting allowing players to manage crop production.
- Collecting and selling products from production buildings like dairies, sugar mills, bakeries, etc. Production buildings make valuable items out of raw materials but take time.
- Fulfilling boat orders from non-player characters to earn coins. This involves collecting specific amounts of certain items within a time limit.
- Selling a wide variety of farm goods to town visitors through the roadside shop to earn coins.
There are also additional activities like foraging for wild items, fishing at different fishing spots, completing town visitor orders for rewards, customizing the farm's layout and decor, participating in seasonal events and more.
