What is LibreTube?
LibreTube is an open-source, decentralized video sharing platform built on WebTorrent as an alternative to centralized platforms like YouTube. It aims to provide censorship resistance, better privacy, no ads or tracking, and gives creators more ownership over their content and communities.
Instead of storing videos on central servers like YouTube, LibreTube uses the peer-to-peer WebTorrent protocol to distribute videos across user devices. This makes silencing and censoring content much more difficult. Videos are accessed by a infohash/magnet link instead of URLs.
