What is PaintBerri?
PaintBerri is a free, open source raster graphics editor for Linux operating systems. It has a simple user interface similar to early versions of Microsoft Paint, making it easy for new users to pick up quickly.
PaintBerri includes basic image editing tools and features such as:
- Layers for working on different parts of an image independently
- Drawing tools like brush, pencil, spray can, lines, curves, and shapes
- Simple photo enhancement tools like brightness, contrast, hue, saturation adjustments
- Filters including blur, sharpen, emboss, distort, and more
- Support for common image formats like JPEG, PNG, TIFF, BMP
As an open source program, PaintBerri is completely free to download and use. The code is available for anyone to view, modify, or enhance as well. The lightweight program works well for basic image editing needs or simple drawing/painting projects.
PaintBerri makes a good replacement for Microsoft Paint on Linux systems. While not as full-featured as advanced editors like GIMP or Krita, its simplicity and easy workflow is ideal for casual users new to graphic design and image manipulation.
