Super Mario Run is a side-scrolling auto-runner platformer mobile game developed and published by Nintendo for iOS and Android devices. The game was first released in December 2016 for iOS devices and later came to Android in March 2017.
In the game, the player controls Mario as he continuously runs from left to right across the trademark Mario platforms and worlds. The gameplay is simplified with Mario automatically running and the player tapping the screen to make Mario jump over obstacles, enemies, and gaps. The game features familiar Mario elements and characters including coins, question mark blocks, Goombas, Koopa Troopas, and Bowser.
The controls are optimized for mobile touchscreens. The player taps the screen to make Mario jump and perform other in-air acrobatics. There is also a mode where the player collects coins and completes challenges across levels. The game has a World Tour mode with 24 levels across 6 worlds as well as a Toad Rally competitive mode.
