Wikivoyage

Wikivoyage is a free, multilingual travel guide based on the wiki model. It aims to create the world's largest free, complete and up-to-date worldwide travel guide.

What is Wikivoyage?

Wikivoyage is an open content, free travel guide project. It is a sister project of Wikipedia, and supported and hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation. The project initially aimed to create the world's largest free, complete and up-to-date worldwide travel guide.

Wikivoyage content is written and edited by volunteer authors and is available under free licenses. It allows redistribution and reuse under the Creative Commons attribution-ShareAlike license (CC BY-SA). This means articles can be copied, modified and redistributed so long as the new version grants the same freedoms to others.

The project began when the Italian, German and English language travel wiki communities voted to merge their efforts under the Wikivoyage name. They were soon joined by many other languages and now Wikivoyage has travel information in multiple languages about many destinations around the globe. Content ranges from basic information about a place to more detailed topics such as transportation options, phrasebooks, visa requirements, restaurant listings, suggestions for itineraries etc.
