What is AmigaWriter?

AmigaWriter is a word processor application that was originally released in 1985 by Commodore for the Amiga line of personal computers. It was one of the standard software packages bundled with the first Amiga systems.

As one of the early WYSIWYG word processors, AmigaWriter was designed to provide an intuitive and user-friendly writing environment. It implemented features that were advanced for its time, including support for multiple fonts and text styles, automatic reformatting of text during editing, integrated spell checking, and a graphical user interface based around document pages rather than a continuous text stream.

While it has long been discontinued today, AmigaWriter represented a significant milestone as one of the pioneering WYSIWYG word processors on the market during the rise of desktop computing in the 1980s.
