Axibase Time Series Database (ATSD)

Open-source time series database for collecting, storing, analyzing, graphing, and visualizing numeric time series data, optimized for IoT/DevOps/IT monitoring use cases.

What is Axibase Time Series Database?

Axibase Time Series Database (ATSD) is an open-source time series database optimized for efficiently collecting, storing, analyzing, graphing, alerting, and visualizing numeric time series data from IT infrastructure, application management, industrial sensors, and financial systems.

Unlike traditional SQL databases, ATSD employs a non-tabular design to organize time-stamped observations from thousands of data sources based on metadata tags. This schema-less architecture enables flexible storage of time series with irregular or missing data, varied update intervals, diverse data shapes from sensor readings to application logs. The data retention policy is configurable on a per-metric basis.

Key features include:

  • Data collection tools for pulling metrics from third-party databases and streaming real-time data from edge devices into the depository.
  • SQL querying of both raw granular data as well as aggregated values for flexible analysis.
  • Threshold-based anomaly detection and forecasting algorithms for monitoring outliers.
  • Customizable dashboards and retention policies configurable on a per-metric basis.
  • Visualization widgets for graphical representation of series sliced by common tags.
  • User-defined metadata tags describing each time series for classification.
  • Role-based access control for governing database privileges.
  • Scheduled PDF report export to email recipients and external systems.
  • REST API, Java, Python, R, MATLAB client libraries.

The browser-based interface centralizes access to ATSD features without the need to deploy additional visualization tools. Schema-less storage, tag-based data classification, and flexible retention policies simplify the ingestion pipeline for faster time to insight.

ATSD delivers high data availability in clustered multi-node deployment configurations as well as cloud-based SaaS implementation to lower TCO and mitigate operational risks for enterprise-wide time series data monitoring.
