Bulletstorm is a 2011 first-person shooter video game developed by People Can Fly and Epic Games and published by Electronic Arts for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. It was released on February 22, 2011 in North America and on February 25, 2011 in Europe.
In Bulletstorm, players control Grayson Hunt, a member of an assassin group called Dead Echo. He seeks revenge on General Serrano, who betrayed Dead Echo by killing its members. Grayson attempts to kill Serrano but only ends up crashlanding on the abandoned resort planet Stygia. He has to fight through the planet to find a way off while seeking his revenge against Serrano.
Bulletstorm is known for its excessively graphic violence and frequent profanity. The game incentivizes finding creative ways to kill enemies through its unique skillshot system, which rewards players for killing enemies in specific and creative ways beyond simply shooting them. There is a 120,000 point scoring limit for skillshots.
The game received mostly positive reviews upon release, with critics praising the distinct skillshot system, visuals, settings, music and humor. However, some critics disliked the storyline and characters. The game underperformed commercially which contributed to the closure of the developer People Can Fly in 2013.
