What is IOctocat?

iOctocat is a free iOS app that allows GitHub users to create their own customized and personalized octocat avatar. Octocat is GitHub's popular mascot character depicted as an anthropomorphized cat with octopus-like tentacles. The app features a base octocat character that users can dress up with various costumes like superhero outfits, pirate gear, space suits, and more. There is also an assortment of hats, glasses, musical instruments, and other accessories to decorate your octocat.

A color wheel lets you change the hue of your octocat along with each individual item it's wearing for seemingly endless custom combinations. There are even backgrounds you can set like landscapes, abstract shapes, or photo backgrounds. When you're happy with your creation, you can save it and export the image to use as your avatar on GitHub, social media, or anywhere else you have a profile pic.

iOctocat also has features to take photos or selfies with your customized octocat using the device camera. There is also an integrated social network allowing you to share your octocat designs and follow other users for inspiration.
