What is OpenTyrian?

OpenTyrian is an open-source port and remake of the classic DOS vertical scrolling shooter video game Tyrian. It was originally developed by World Tree Games and released as shareware in 1995. Tyrian became popular for its fast-paced arcade action, detailed pixel art graphics, power-ups, secret levels, storyline and boss fights.

The open source OpenTyrian project allows Tyrian to be played on modern operating systems. It features an improved game engine that supports higher resolutions and refresh rates while remaining faithful to the original gameplay.
