What is Oubliette?

Oubliette is an open-source, multiplayer dungeon crawler RPG video game. Originally released in 1977, it is one of the earliest multiplayer graphical RPGs ever made. Oubliette has simplistic wireframe vector graphics and gameplay inspired by text-based roguelike RPGs of the 1980s such as Rogue, Hack, Moria, and Angband.

Despite its retro aesthetic, Oubliette supports online multiplayer through servers hosted by the developer and community. Players can create parties with friends or other players and adventure together through procedurally generated dungeons while battling monsters and collecting loot. Oubliette also has very active modding and mapping communities that continuously expand the content of the game.

The simplicity of Oubliette's graphics and gameplay make it approachable for casual gamers while still providing depth and challenge for seasoned RPG veterans. Its classic old-school style also appeals to gamers nostalgic for retro RPGs. Oubliette's open-source codebase, multiplayer support, and modding community give it longevity and the potential for continual improvement by fans and contributors.
