What is Syrian Warfare?

Syrian Warfare is a real-time tactics video game developed by Russian studio Cats Who Play and published by Star Drive Studios in 2019. The game is set in modern-day Syria during the ongoing Syrian civil war.

In Syrian Warfare, players take control of a Syrian army unit and must battle against various rebel and terrorist forces. The campaign follows the Syrian war from 2011 onwards, with players taking part in key battles from Aleppo to Deir ez-Zor.

Gameplay consists of tactical squad-based combat with elements of stealth and strategy. Players control a small squad of Syrian army soldiers and vehicles and must capture strategic objectives while also managing resources and unit morale. There is a focus on authenticity with over 60 real-life Syrian weapons and vehicles.

Since its release, Syrian Warfare has received generally positive reviews for its tactical gameplay and depiction of the Syrian war. Some criticism focused on graphical issues and lack of multiplayer. It provides a unique perspective into the recent conflict through real-time combat.
