Tyranny is an isometric role-playing video game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Paradox Interactive. It was released on November 10, 2016 for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux.
Tyranny is set in the world of Terratus, where the war between the villainous Overlord Kyros and the disorganized Tiersmen has recently ended. Kyros has begun a reign of terror after finally conquering the last bastion of opposition in the region. The player character is one of Kyros' agents known as Fatebinders, judging and mediating over various problems and power struggles in the nascent society.
Gameplay in Tyranny mostly resembles a classic isometric role-playing game. The Fatebinder has reputation, attributes, skills, talents, magic spells, etc. which determine available narrative choices and combat effectiveness. Real-time combat allows pausing for strategic usage of skills and spells. The Fatebinder can recruit companions along the way.
Choice and consequences are at the heart of Tyranny's narrative. The decisions the player makes as the arbitrator of Kyros' will determine how various factions and characters view the Fatebinder, altering story events and the endgame. There are multiple endings based on player actions.
