AppOptics: Application Performance Monitoring

AppOptics is an application performance monitoring (APM) solution designed to provide visibility into the performance of cloud-based applications. It offers tracing, metrics, and logging to help developers debug, monitor, and improve application performance.

What is AppOptics?

AppOptics is a cloud-based application performance monitoring (APM) platform designed for monitoring the performance and availability of cloud applications in real-time. It was acquired by SolarWinds in 2016.

AppOptics provides distributed tracing, custom metrics, pre-defined integrations, alerting, and visualization capabilities to gain visibility into application performance across complex, distributed architectures. Key capabilities and features include:

  • Distributed tracing - Trace requests across services to see comprehensive insights beyond what single service monitoring provides.
  • Custom metrics - Instrument code to emit custom metrics associated with business data and see inside applications.
  • APM integrations - AppOptics provides out-of-the-box instrumentation for many technologies - frameworks, data stores, messaging systems, and more.
  • Visualization and analytics - Visualize performance metrics on customizable dashboards and gain insights through correlation and heatmap analysis.
  • Alerting - Get notified of anomalies or incidents so you can resolve issues proactively before they impact users.

AppOptics supports most languages and frameworks and can monitor infrastructure, application code, services and more. It provides a single UI to monitor all critical parts of an application stack.
