What is Astrid?
Astrid is a free and open source to-do list and task management application originally developed for Android. It provides users with an easy way to organize tasks, set reminders, track progress, and prioritize what's important.
Some key features of Astrid include:
- Intuitive interface for adding, editing, and re-ordering tasks
- Subtasks and nested lists for breaking down bigger projects
- Reminders and notifications so you don't forget about important to-dos
- Tags and filters for sorting tasks into categories
- Repeat options for recurring tasks
- Productivity charts to visualize task completion
- Syncing across devices when logged into an account
While initially released only on Android, Astrid was later made available on iOS and web platforms through acquired companies. In 2013, Astrid was acquired by Yahoo and shut down, with its former users directed towards Yahoo's own task app. The open source code for Astrid continued to be available and maintained by the community.
As an early popular to-do list app on Android, Astrid paved the way for many of the task management apps widespread on mobile today. Its features and intuitive interface made it easy for users to stay organized and productive.
Microsoft Office Outlook, Todoist, Things, ToDoList, Workflowy, TickTick, Habitica, Org mode, Tasks.org, Task Coach, Remember The Milk, Zoho Notebook are some alternatives to Astrid.
