What is Authy?
Authy is a two-factor authentication application developed by Twilio that provides enhanced security for logging into online accounts. It works by associating your mobile device with your online accounts so that a second one-time passcode generated by the Authy app is required in addition to your regular account password when logging in.
When enabled for a supported account, Authy will generate a 6-digit one-time passcode that refreshes every 30 seconds. You enter this code along with your regular account password to successfully log in. This adds an extra layer of security because access to both your password and the mobile device linked to your Authy account is required to log in successfully.
Authy supports most common online services like Google, Facebook, Dropbox, Coinbase and more. It has apps available for both iOS and Android mobile devices. An optional Chrome browser extension is also available for quick access to one-time passcodes when logging into Authy-enabled sites via desktop browsers.
