What is Darwin Project?

Darwin Project is a free-to-play battle royale game developed and published by Canadian video game studio Scavengers. It was released in March 2018 for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One.

The game features a snow-covered landscape where up to 10 players compete in a fight to the death until only one remains victorious. Players can utilize weapons like bows, axes and swords, as well as special abilities and traps, to defeat opponents and be the last one standing.

Unlike many popular battle royale titles, Darwin Project has a smaller arena and player count which leads to faster-paced matches. The game's art style features cartoonish graphics and characters for a unique visual appeal.

An interesting gameplay mechanic is the inclusion of a game show element, complete with an in-game announcer/director that commentates matches and can influence gameplay aspects. Players can also spectate matches.

Darwin Project garnered generally positive reviews for its innovative blend of battle royale and survival gameplay with a game show-like twist. However, due to low player count numbers, the full release was put on indefinite hold in January 2021.
