Play as a custom avatar character in a 3D fighting role-playing game based on the Dragon Ball franchise, interacting with anime series characters through story mode and online multiplayer battles.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse is a 3D fighting role-playing video game developed by Dimps and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It is based on the popular Dragon Ball anime and manga series and was released in 2015 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Nintendo Switch.
In the game's story mode, players create their own custom avatar character. The player's character interacts with key characters from the Dragon Ball universe such as Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza as they travel through famous story arcs from the anime using time travel.
The overall goal is to battle enemies and eventually restore the original timeline that has been altered by villains Towa and Mira. Gameplay includes real-time combat in large 3D environments. Players select from many Dragon Ball characters, each with their own fighting styles and special moves from the anime.
There is a large focus on online multiplayer battles and community features where players can fight against each other, trade items, form teams, and share created characters. Since its initial release, Dragon Ball Xenoverse has had several downloadable content packs released that have added new story missions, playable characters, skills, costumes, and more.
