Mortal Kombat X is a fighting video game developed by NetherRealm Studios and published in 2015 by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It is the tenth main installment in the popular Mortal Kombat video game series which first launched in 1992.
The game features a roster of new and returning characters, each with unique moves and fatalities. It introduces variants of each character, allowing players to choose different fighting styles and abilities. Mortal Kombat X has a new graphics engine showcasing every skull-shattering, eye-popping moment. The game also includes online functionality and some story mode where players explore the history that pits Raiden against Shinnok.
The game was released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows platforms. Upon launch, it was well received by critics for its gameplay, story, graphics and amount of content. Selling more than 5 million copies, it was the fastest-selling game in the franchise and one of the best selling video games of 2015.
