What is Magrunner: Dark Pulse?
Magrunner: Dark Pulse is a first-person puzzle video game developed by Frogwares and published by Focus Home Interactive in 2013 for Microsoft Windows, OS X, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. It takes place in the year 2050 where players assume the role of Dax, a new student at Magtech who possesses magnetic gloves that can alter magnetic forces. The game's story sees Dax invited to take part in a mysterious contest known as Magrunner.
Over the course of the game, Dax must traverse various environments and solve challenging electromagnetic puzzles by using his Magtech gloves to manipulate magnetic forces. Puzzles involve connecting circuits, activating switches, opening doors, moving platforms, and avoiding security drones and traps. Environments range from high-tech training facilities to mysterious outdoor landscapes filled with magnetic anomalies.
As Dax progresses deeper through each puzzle area, the environments become increasingly chaotic with more magnetic distortions and spatial anomalies. He eventually realizes Magrunner is far more sinister than it appears as he confronts the sinister Crowfather and his army of Crows that threaten humanity. Overall, Magrunner provides a robust set of clever spatial puzzles combined with an ominous sci-fi story set in a distorted magnetic world.
