What is SAP2000?
SAP2000 is a comprehensive software package used for analysis and design of civil and structural engineering projects. It supports over 30 international design codes which enables civil and structural engineers to model and analyze complex structures like buildings, industrial plants, bridges, stadiums, tunnels, dams, culverts, retaining walls etc. SAP2000 has powerful modeling capabilities which can handle structures with thousands of members, loads, and nonlinear properties.
The graphical user interface allows quick generation and easy modification of structural models. Users can apply various loads including static loads, dynamic loads, pushover loads, nonlinear loads, wind, wave, vehicle, and moving loads. The results can be visualized as contours, graphs, tables, animations etc.
SAP2000 has advanced finite element analysis capabilities to handle complex material behaviors including cracking and crushing of concrete elements, plastic hinging of steel members and about 40 other nonlinear properties. Dynamic analysis tools allow modal, harmonic, spectral, linear time history, nonlinear timehistory analyses.
Design tools are available for structural steel, reinforced or prestressed concrete members as per international codes. SAP2000 is also equipped with features for grouping members into tendons and performing construction stage analysis.
