What is Space Empires IV Deluxe?

Space Empires IV Deluxe is a comprehensive 4X space strategy game from Shrapnel Games and Malfador Machinations. As the leader of a space-faring empire, your task is to explore a procedurally-generated galaxy, colonize new worlds, research new technologies, design new spacecraft, and ultimately conquer or ally with rival civilizations.

This Deluxe version includes the original Space Empires IV base game along with its acclaimed Starships Unlimited and Andromedan Threat expansions, adding a massive amount of new content and features. Key additions include new planet types and tile sets, expanded ground combat and boarding actions, greater colony specialization options, a broader technology tree to pursue, additional ship sections to design warships with, a campaign system for linking battles together, and more playable civilizations each with unique traits and abilities.

Gameplay takes place on a three-dimensional galaxy map containing hundreds of star systems to explore. Planet types range from barren asteroids to gaia worlds ripe for settlement. Building colony ships and space infrastructure allows you to settle new worlds and exploit their resources to fuel research and ship production. Technologies unlocked along a deep tech tree grant access to advances such as beam weapons, ion engines, bigger hull sizes, stronger armor, and more.
