Stellaris is a 4X grand strategy video game set in space, with science fiction themes and randomly generated galaxies. It was developed by Paradox Development Studio and published in 2016 by Paradox Interactive.
In Stellaris, players take control of a spacefaring empire and explore a procedurally generated galaxy containing thousands of stars and planets. Gameplay revolves around expanding your empire through colonization, diplomacy, economic development, new technologies and starship design. You make contact with alien species who may be hostile, friendly or mysterious. There is a storytelling element as well through random events and special projects that arise. Over time your species and empire evolve ethically, politically and technologically in different ways depending on your choices.
