Megaman Origins is an ambitious fan project that serves as a remake and reimagining of the classic Megaman series of action platformer games. Origins combines elements from Megaman, Megaman 2, Megaman 3, and other titles into one new game built from scratch.
Staying true to the spirit of the 8-bit originals, Origins features tight platforming action, boss battles against quirky robot masters, and upgradable weapons copied from defeated bosses. Levels and robot masters from various Megaman games are remixed together into one campaign as the Blue Bomber takes on the evil Dr. Wily and his robots once more.
Origins sets itself apart with completely redrawn high resolution artwork, graphic effects like lighting and particles not possible on 80s hardware, a remixed soundtrack, and modernized gameplay elements like save files and difficulty modes. The core run and gun gameplay remains challenging but fair.
Developed over several years by a small team of fans, Megaman Origins aims to capture the feel of classic Megaman combined with modern game design. With features for both casual and hardcore gamers, it hopes to appeal to series veterans and newcomers alike by providing a fresh new take on the blue bomber's adventures.
