What is TaskSwitchXP?

TaskSwitchXP is a free, open-source program that enhances the default Alt+Tab task switching functionality in Windows. It provides a more advanced window preview and navigation experience.

When invoked with Alt+Tab, TaskSwitchXP displays thumbnails of all open windows on the screen. You can quickly scroll through the windows with the arrow keys or mouse wheel to select the desired window to switch to. Hovering over a thumbnail enlarges it for easy identification and previewing.

Additional features include sticky windows that remain selected after releasing Alt+Tab for easy switching back and forth, customizable switching modes and effects, exclusion lists to hide certain windows from Alt+Tab, and configuration options to control thumbnail sizes, animations, opacity levels, and more.

By improving the window navigation and switching workflow, TaskSwitchXP aims to help increase multitasking productivity in Windows. It offers more flexibility and visual information than the default task switcher built into Windows.

As an open-source program, TaskSwitchXP is free to download and use. It works on Windows XP through Windows 11 and is lightweight with a small memory footprint.
