What is Temtem?
Temtem is an indie massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Spanish studio Crema and heavily inspired by Nintendo's Pokémon series. Released in early access in 2020 for PC, Temtem aims to put a new spin on the monster catching and battling formula that Pokémon popularized.
In Temtem, players explore the floating Airborne Archipelago, a chain of islands held aloft by a mysterious mineral called Lacrima. Across these islands, players can catch over 100 unique Temtem creatures and battle other tamers. Temtem features a deep competitive battling system with various technique types and statuses to master.
The campaign can be played solo or in two-player online co-op. Players battle the villainous Clan Belsoto while working to become the top tamer on the islands. Endgame activities focus on competitive ranked matches, building the perfect Temtem squad, and engaging online community features like housing, trading, and more planned post-launch content.
While clearly inspired by Pokémon, Temtem aims to modernize the creature collecting formula with online multiplayer integration, more challenging combat depth, and frequent content updates funded by a one-time purchase model rather than aggressive monetization.
