Padthv1: Open-Source Padlet Alternative

Real-time collaboration tool with virtual walls for posting text, images, links, documents, and more, simple setup and configuration

What is Padthv1?

padthv1 is an open-source web application that provides similar functionality to Padlet for collaborative posting walls, but is self-hosted rather than a centralized service. It allows real-time collaboration between users by creating virtual walls where anyone with the URL can post textual notes, photos, links, documents, and more.

As an open-source project, padthv1 places priority on user privacy and ownership of data. By self-hosting it on your own server, you have complete control and insight into how posts and media are stored, managed, and accessed. Configuration is simple with documentations for common installation methods.

Key features include public/private wall permissions, optional user registration, voting/reactions, filtering, media embedding, and theme customization. An API is provided to manage walls programmatically. As an open platform, contributors can expand capabilities by building custom plugins and integrations.

For educators, teams, or communities that want the flexible collaboration of Padlet without relying on a third-party provider, padthv1 offers a lightweight self-hosted alternative focused on ownership, privacy, and extensibility.
