A sci-fi horror game series, battling Necromorphs on a derelict space station, developed by Visceral Games & published by Electronic Arts.
The Dead Space series is a science fiction survival horror video game franchise created by Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey. The first game was developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts in 2008. The story follows Isaac Clarke, a systems engineer who battles terrifying creatures called Necromorphs aboard an interstellar mining starship called the USG Ishimura.
The Necromorphs are reanimated human corpses transformed by an alien artifact called the Marker. Isaac must fight his way through the nightmarish creatures while uncovering the dark secrets behind the Marker's origins. With its dark, moody atmosphere, strategic dismemberment-based combat, and horrifying enemies, Dead Space established itself as a landmark franchise in the survival horror genre.
The series includes the main trilogy of Dead Space games released between 2008-2013 as well as several spin-off games. Dead Space 2 continued Isaac's story as he encounters more Markers and Necromorph threats, this time set in a sprawling space metropolis called The Sprawl. Dead Space 3 took the action to an ice planet and introduced weapon crafting mechanics.
The Dead Space games are acclaimed for their tense atmosphere, innovative gameplay, and horrific visuals. They helped redefine the survival horror genre by blending third-person action and RPG elements. The series has garnered awards and sold millions of copies worldwide, leaving a lasting legacy despite Visceral Games' closure in 2017.
