What is Neverwinter?

Neverwinter is a free-to-play fantasy MMORPG developed by Cryptic Studios and released by Perfect World Entertainment in 2013. It is based on the fictional Forgotten Realms city of Neverwinter from the Dungeons & Dragons universe. The game includes classic MMORPG features such as a persistent world, loot collection, character classes and progression.

Players create a character to explore the city of Neverwinter and its surrounding areas, completing quests and defeating enemies. Neverwinter features a combat system that incorporates player skill, featuring dodging and aiming mechanics. Characters belong to one of several classes such as Guardian Fighter, Great Weapon Fighter, Trickster Rogue, Devoted Cleric or Control Wizard.

As players progress, they collect better gear and crafting ingredients to improve their weapons and armor. The game features social aspects including chat, player trading and public and private guilds. Players can also acquire and decorate player housing and hire non-player followers.

Since its release, Neverwinter has received several expansion packs adding new storylines, zones and features. Notable additions include the Strongholds guild-building system and level cap increases. It continues to receive regular content updates.
