What is SlideShare?
SlideShare is an online platform and content sharing site for professional content. It is used to share presentations, infographics, documents, videos and webinars. SlideShare was launched in October 2006 and has become one of the top 150 most-visited websites globally according to Alexa rankings.
Users can upload files privately or publicly in PowerPoint, Word, PDF or OpenDocument format. Presentations and documents can be viewed online in the SlideShare website or embedded in other sites. Users can also share videos. Registered users can follow other users, customize profiles, join groups, comment, tag and rate content.
SlideShare features analytics that allow users to track views, downloads, likes, embeds and shares. Paid PRO accounts allow users to access more detailed analytics to gain insights, customize branding and content, generate leads and integrate with marketing and sales applications like Salesforce and HubSpot.
SlideShare is owned by LinkedIn and Scribd. Key competitors include DocDroid, Issuu, Scribd and Mix. As of April 2022, SlideShare reported having over 90 million unique visitors per month and more than 400 million page views per month.
