WordPress: Highly Customizable Open-Source CMS
WordPress is an open-source content management system based on PHP and MySQL. It has a large community of developers and users and is highly customizable through themes and plugins. WordPress is commonly used for blogging, ecommerce, and general websites.

What Is WordPress?
WordPress is the world's most popular content management system, powering over 40 percent of all websites on the internet. Originally created as a blogging platform in 2003, it has evolved into a full website builder and application framework used for everything from personal blogs to enterprise websites and e-commerce stores.
Key Features
WordPress provides a visual editor (Gutenberg block editor) for creating pages and posts without coding. Themes control the visual design, while plugins extend functionality — there are over 60,000 free plugins covering SEO, security, e-commerce (WooCommerce), forms, caching, and virtually every other feature imaginable.
The platform supports custom post types, taxonomies, REST API, and multisite networks. WordPress.org is the self-hosted open-source version; WordPress.com is the hosted service with managed plans.
Pricing
WordPress.org is free and open source. Costs come from hosting (starting at 3-10 dollars per month), premium themes (0-100 dollars), and premium plugins. WordPress.com offers free and paid plans starting at 4 dollars per month.

Apr 19, 2026Constant Updates and Plugin Conflicts Make It Exhausting
